Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh Granted 'A' Certificate By CBFC; Asked To Modify Drug Snorting Scene
Shahid Kapoor’s most awaited film Kabir Singh has received an 'A' certificate and the CBFC has suggested a change in the scene where Shahid is seen snorting drugs
Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film has created quite a buzz for the role Shahid is seen playing in the movie. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Devarakonda. The film is directed by the Arjun Reddy director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film is slated o release on June 21, 2019
The film has been awarded an A certificate by the CBFC, with a few changes. The film received an adult certificate from the Central Board Of Film Certification for a drug-snorting scene in the film. Apart from the warning on all the drug scenes, the CBFC has sought a modification in a scene where a character will be seen snorting drugs, the shot to be changed from front side to side angle shot. A disclaimer against ragging has also been added in the film. The words like Be***, ma***, Ch**, and Ga** are muted by the CBFC.
About the film, Shahid recently told the PTI, “Nobody else has the guts to play these characters. Maybe because I am my father’s (Pankaj Kapur) son, felt the need to play such flawed characters. Acting has made a man of me. You have to learn to take failure on your chin, to take responsibility for your actions, to deal with the very public rejection and failure. You’ve to learn to believe in yourself when no one else does”.
The actor had also defended himself against the chauvinism allegations saying,” Kabir Singh is a phase in everyone’s life. We all (become) self-destructive when we feel like we’ve fallen apart. (One may feel) empathy for him because, in all his misgivings, he is vulnerable. It’s a cathartic journey of a man, and a cautionary tale. It made me feel that I never want to become this person.
